Propagating macro alge

Hi,
I have what I think is some sort of macro alge. It is beautiful. It looks like a big piece of orange leaf lettuce. It broke off the base when a snail chewed it and now is floating around. Does anyone know how to restart it growing on some rock? This pic is when it was smaller. It grew to the size of my hand in about 2 weeks.....Sorry don't know how to get the pic to attach. I uploaded twice.

The base of the algae should start to regrow. have had very good luck simply tucking the free floating algae in to a crack or hole in the rock. They do not grow like plants for the most part, every piece is capable of regrowing into a new "plant"
