looking into the possibility of getting a 265 gallon tank. Perfecto makes one that is 84x24x30.

my question is filters.... I have Aquaclear 500s on my 125, but can't see them doing the job for a tank of that volume.

Anyone with a tank that size? any input on what I should use for filters would be helpful.

this is going to be a pricey purchase, but I want to do it right.

thanks in advance:D

wrong forum, and since you don't state what the tank will be for, it's hard to advise you...

For salt - The berlin method, all the way...

For fresh - a big fat Eheim on each end of the tank should suffice...

There ya go, any uselessness in my reply is cuz you didn't give me enough info to go on =)

You'll have to decide what you want in there. Planted, with 200 neons, you wouldn't need much mechanical filtration at all. Unplanted, with big fish, well, that's a different story.

You might want to check out AquaMojo.com as I think his pond is a bit bigger than that and home to some (ahem) large fish.

Still can't help with filtration. Once more, your filtration will be different for 2 stingrays versus 200 neons.

You may want to look into pond filters, sand filters, and natural filtration. If you're going to have a large bio-load, sometimes it's best to mix methods--that way, there's less worry if one system fails, or slacks off. For example, planted tanks don't suffer from power outages as much as unplanted tanks, as long as the temp stays stable.

on my 220 gallon im using two emperor 400s, a Amiricle Maxi-Reef 400 with pre-sponges in the 1400gph overflow and a filter pad on the drip plate above the bio balls, and a mag 12 returning the water back up to the tank. Plus im down to 2 Maxi-Jet (from 4)powerheads with sponges on them in the left and right rear lower corners of the tank. works great for me with a dozen clown loaches, a pleco, A Festae and a large Gold Saum "Green Terror". On my larger tank i went with a HUGE wet/dry trickle filter and some power heads, isnt much avalaible for much larger tanks.
