Protein Skimmer 29gallon tank???

I`ve had a 29gallon tank running for a year now & now i`ve fully stocked it with fish corals hermits shrimps etc im on the up grade with all my equipment

i removed the 2x18watt power compacts & put 3x24watt T5`s.

i removed my trickle filter & installed an external filter.

i`ve NEVER run a protein skimmer instead i used a product called purigen by a brand called seachem & its worked fine over the year but now im thinking about scraping this & getting a skimmer but on such a small tank there's not much out there as i do not want a air driven one i also dont like the red prizem skimmer due to noise & not doing a good job so im thinking of a V2 skim 400 but im thinking this skimmer is for a 400ltr 100gallon tank what affect will this do to my tank ???

is it such a good idea installing a V2 skim 400 on a 29gallon tank?​
 
I would not put one of them onto a 29 gallon tank, a little over kill, unless you can not find anything else..What is your budget for a skimmer?...Why do you not want an air driven skimmer?

any budget really...............i just thought the TMC V2 skim 400 is one od the best.

because i`ve heard that no skimmer dose a better job than a internal air driven skimmer.....
Can you get an external air driven skimmer?
i would want it to be external as 29gallon & live rock fish etc dose not leave much room for an internal
 
I used a seaclone 150g model on my 29g... worked out fine. Seaclones are inefficient so even though it may sound like overkill IMHO it isn't.
 
i do like the v2 400 skim how about if i ran it 12hours a day are for 3 hour intervals are cant skimmers be run on a timer
 
Am not saying that you cant use it, its just a little over kill thats all matey..I suppose this is always going to be a problem in the UK, getting skimmers that are designed for small tanks...Go for it mate..Try running it constant first and when you notice that the skimmate goes away to nothing, just leave off for 48 hours and then run for a day again..That way, it will keep removing it when its built up to a good enough level that the skimmer will operate...

CPR skimmers are excellent for smaller systems easy to set up and work and they dont make much noise either. the backpak or even a ecosystems refugum with built in skimmer would add a wonderful benefit. i had the ecosystems pro 40 refugum on my 29 and it worked wonders and doubled my stocking cap as well. So the fuge added extra bio filtration to my tank, a awsome skimmer, the light with combo of the macro algae stabilizes the ph and removes phosphates, the live rock provides places for pods to grown and they then get sucked into the tank as a added natural food.
