I use turboflotor t1000.
Pros: Uses overflow pressure as input. Surface water likely has large portion of protein build up. Water level is controlled by the position of the output tube, the level in the skimmer stays consistent regardless of the input pressure. It's a recirculating skimmer.
Cons: It doesn't come with a pump, which you need to buy. If you can't hook up your overflow directly into the skimmer, you need an extra small powerhead as well. Releases bit of microbubble into the sump especially with high input pressure, but it also comes with an extra chamber that can be attached to the output for the water to "settle down" before going into the sump.
Overall, I would really recommend this skimmer and wouldn't ever change it myself. It really takes out TON of junk everyday and I'm really happy with it. If you get a good deal online, you can probably get it for about 220 + shipping including the ocean runner pump.
Just my suggestion.
