Protein Skimmer

Hi everyone,
I am currently starting a reef tank and I am just mondering a very simple question. Do I need a skimmer??? The one i was looking to buy is a tunze and my tank is 50g. i am going to have coral, soft and hard, aswell as two clowns, 1 blue tang, 1 foxface and a lawn mower belennie.

Hi Oliver!

After seeing the CRUD that mine pulls out of my 36gal, I wouldn't go without one. I currently have an 18 gal nano with no skimmer but I'm about ready to add one.

I am a big fan of skimmers, so I vote "yes."

As far as stocking, the tang, foxface and lawnmower will probably be a bit much together. The tang and foxface will both get too big for a 50. I have seen that you have recieved conflicting advice, but that's my 0.02. Also, there will probably not be enough algae to support the three. In my 90, I have the same combo, but with a kole tang, and the tang and blenny started to get very thin until I supplemented with nori.
