I have noticed that my GSP gets grey marks on his cheeks and belly after eating. and also doesn't seem to be as active after eating, is this normal behavior for them. he has been in the tank for about a month, I started out with SG of 1.010 and have slowly raised it to 1.020 over the last month. all water parameters look good.

That may be too high for a juvenile puffer. I would slowly reduce the sg down to about 1.014, and see how he fares.

How large is your puffer? How often is it fed? It is normal for them to change colors & get lazy after a big meal. Just feed them until their belly is round.
