Help me if you can. I have a porcupine puffer in quarantine with ick almost gone, but it now has a spot on the top of its head. It is like the fish is molting, but I don't know if that is possible. It is faded in color and looks like the skin is a patch. That is the best I can tell.

It is not a hole in the head. It looks like he is molting or growing in a new layer of skin. However, I have a feeling it could be like velvet too.
wanted to update on my puffer. His ick is gone, but he has the weird discolooration on the top of the head. He is back in the 90 I have and actually took a small bite of a silverside. From what the aquatic specialist said at PETCO, we will have to see if it lives.
maybe you could take a pic and post on here to see if we could tell you what it is and maybe how to get rid of it.
