I have a 55 gallon tank that we are using for cichilds. The tank has been set up for quite a while and has been very stable. I noticed that the tank was not as sparkling clear as usual and fugured that meant it was time for some cleaning but when I started my task I realized that my Fluval 305 filter was barely moving the water in the tank when in the past it has had a very powerful flow. After replacing some of the media in the filter and doing a water change the pressure is just as low as before, where do I start troubleshooting low flow/circulation in my pump? I read the Fluval manual and it has no troubleshooting tips or suggestions, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Is the grey lever all the way down?
Or there could be buildup on the impeller fan, read the manual for Impeller maintenance.

Well, I don't have any of those filters, but some things in general...

Clean/flush all hoses and couplings with a bottle brush?

Is the impeller shaft free of wear and tear? Maybe replace it? Is it seated well?

Replace the foam blocks because there are blocked in the interior?

Once you get all that done that rbishop was talking about, and if your problem still is not resolved you may want to consider replacing your filters. If that is what you end up doing, I sugjest that you get two filters that recycle at least 30gallon tanks. This way, if you have another problem like this with one of your filters, you will at least have SOME filtration. Enough so that your not pressing yourself with worry for the health of your fish. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. ;)
