Alright ready to get a 46 gal tank going for a a pair of Firemouths. I am using sand as substrate, There is a piece of driftwood, some rocks for hiding places, some anubias nana (plant), I am keeping two clown pleco's with them, and medium sized cichlid pelets for food. Now is there anything missing, anything I need to take out or replace. Hands on experience would be helpful, so people who have or had FM's help me out.

Flowerpots help for making breeding caves. That's what my FMs chose.

They love hiding places, so lots of rocks IMO. I'm not much for flowerpots, but many members use them and fish seem to love them!!! Be sure to feed them a variety of foods, not just the pellets they would appreciate that.

Ummm, and a very important thing to remember.....POST SOME PICS!!! :)

I used small stones as substrate. I haven't seen the FM's digging (maybe cos they're males) but my convict (female) dug pits. She picked up the stones in her mouth and spat them out into a pile.
If your using sand, how would they dig ? (would they sit into the sans and move about maybe to form a pit ?)
My dominant male has claimed the recently added flower pot as his. I only just attempted sexing them, so I've yet to see a female FM in action.
The smallest one likes to hide in the plants
The other hides on the substrate behind the plants
