Q about tsn

Hey whats up i have had my tsn's for about 1 and 1/2 months now and they are doing great but the more i talk to people the more i hear how big there going to get.
i did alot of research before i got them and i found alot of stuff like how big they where going to get and stuff like that but now that i have been talkin to people they say there going to get like close to 3 feet i though they where only going to get around 18 to 24 inches and the lfs that i bought it from showed me one in the store and said that is was going to get that big and it was about 20 inhes.
Right now i have them in a 75 gallon and there onely about 7 inches maybe but this summer i'm hoping to purchase somthing around 200 gallons so that would be enough either way i think but if any one could tell me some thing about them would be very helpl full i'm just really confuresed

From what I've read TSN's can get up to 48" or larger. I've also read they will smash through the side of a tank sometimes if they have trouble turning arounf or thier barbels touch both sides at the same time. I plan on eventually keeping my tiger and a large zebra shovelnose together. Along with a few other large fish. The most important factor however is that your fish should be able to turn around easily in your tank.

Also the tank should be wider than your fish. I'm planning on a 900+ gallon tank for these fish. It's going to be 48"s wide. Maybe larger if I can afford it when I'm ready to build. If you can't afford to build a large tank for these fish an inside pond is much more cheap. However the view from the side will be taken away.

In my honest opinion you should provide your fish with the biggest tank possible. If you know the fish gets big when you purchase it. You should take into consideration that you'll have to provide for it one day.

And follow the mistake I've made in the past. Do your research before buying any fish. If you know you want something. Read all the info you can find about them or talk to someone that already owns the kind of fish you want. Most times the pet shops will hold a fish for you with a deposit. You'll save yourself a lot of headache and heartache in the future. You'll also be able to provide a quality environment for you new fish.

TSN are very big fish. They max out at 4 feet! They are however a nice fish to keep if you have the room. If you wanted to keep 1 in a small tank go to www.glasscages.com.They have some square shaped tanks that would be perfect for a TSN. Good luck on the fish.
