Q-Tank Size?

Is bigger generally better in a Q-tank? I have an old 40 that was FW and has been treated with copper so it will never be used again as a "real" tank.

I assume I can use it to set up a simple Q-tank with some PVC for hiding, a heater, and a HOB filter with minimal, if any, media for water movement.

Sure, that would work. You need enough room for your fish to comfortably fit, but you don't want anything so huge that you have to dose chemicals in great volumes for the desired effects. Normally, anything between 20-50 gallons is fine for most smaller fish over short periods.

A 40g would be fine - wish I had one that big. Mine is only 15g which will be fine for quarantine because I don't plan on buying anymore large fish. But, if my tang got sick, I wouldn't be able to use the 15g as a hospital tank (as if I could catch a tang! )

What kind of livestock are you looking to house in your 125?

The livestock list in next on the to-do list. But smaller reef-compatable fish along with various corals. Your thought would be appreciated at my first attempt:

2 Bangaii Cardinals
2 or 3 Pajama Cardinals
3 or 4 Chromis (Green, probably)
1 Flame Angelfish
1 Black & White Heniochus???
1 Yellow Tang?
More?
