So, I've been reading about people having a small tank for quarantine and it seems like a good idea to me. One question though. How do you keep them cycled?

i have 2 filters running on my 20 gallon, when i quarantine, i simply take one of the filter and set it up on the quarantine tank. Yay instant cycling (i have gotten a mini cycle once on the main tank though, so watch out for those)

I leave mine set up. The tiny one (2.5g) just has 2 snails in it. The 10g has some snails and some ghost shrimp. They keep it cycled. I throw in a pellet or wafer once or twice a week.

Pull over sponge filters from the other tanks for that purpose. Or just do daily water changes as necessary.

using filter media from an established system usually worked for me, but I've gotten to the point where I usually keep a fish or two in there when not in use for quarantine.
