i finaly have a extra tank available. I have a female JD who has been battered by my 2 GT and a GT who was also beatin by the GTs. Can i keep both in my QT tank? its only 5 gallons. I cant get a bigger tank so dont suggest that. If i have to choose i would rather save the female JD since she breeds with my male.

I would say it's really too small, it would be better if you could tie it in to your bigger system for extra flow and filtration as well as constant dillution of pollutants. This would ease the maintenance issues, but is only a good idea if you aren't dealing with disease.

BTW I know you said don't suggest this, but a 30 gallon trash can makes a fine q-tank and doesn't cost a whole lot either.
