I just bought 2 zebra hermit crabs for my 25 gal tank. The guy at the LFS told me that they are the only hermit that doesn't need to find a new shell and their shells actually grow with them. I could not find any info to back this up. Can anyone confirm this for me? Any other info on zebra hermits or any hermits would be helpful too. I'm a bit of a newbie so I'm taking in info like crazy.

Thanks

i bought a few zebra hermits, and mine were very aggressive. i ended up taking mine out because they were killing my scarlet reef hermits. there are several places that sell different crabs as zebra hermits. mine were the black and white with the big left claw. i have seen electric blue hermits labled zebra hermits in some LFS. a king crab is considered a hermit, and its the only hermit that i know of that doesnt scavange shells. the family of hermits that no longer use shells look similar to true crabs and are called carcinized.
