My dominate peacock Herman in my avatar had become listless, with diminished appetite. His second-in-command Stalin made a power-play and took over the tank, terrorizing everyone. I don't know if these marks were from scrapes (I could hear splashing after lights out), or columnaris.

I treated the tank with Binox 4 days ago.

Binox: a broad range treatment for all tropical fish and goldfish. Clears irritations such as fungus, columnaris, scratching and open sores. Use 1 teaspoon per 25 gallons. A second dose may be added after four days and a 25% water change. Note: some live plants may be sensitive to this medication. active ingredient: nitrofurazone

After four days, Herman shows no more signs of whatever it was and is feeling chuffed and back in charge.

Stalin has been put in his place.

My bacteria colony was not affected, nor any other fish including the syno petricola. Needless to say I'm very impressed with this medication, and it's cheap! My question is, should I treat the tank with a second dose?

Those are battle scars. Unless you notice signs of infection such as redness or a white fuzz or film there's no need to medicate further.

Thank you, SubRosa. I wasn't sure because they were only on his left side, yet seemed to get worse. Relieved that it's not columnaris.
