Just finishing up a 20L with 9 black neons, and 2 cories, and wondering on your opinions about maybe finializing with 2 angels or Discus, I have kept discus before...and thinking about just haveing a nice mated pair as showpieces in this small planted tank. I'm just worried it might be too small.

I agree with TheMightyQueenPixie. Angels and Discus need a taller tank. The 20L are just not suited for tall bodied fish especially the angels who have the long fins as well.
Why not look into some of the Rainbows as a showcase fish.

Discus do better in groups. If you want more info about discus talk to NatakuTseng or puma ward. But Imo you would be better to have a bigger tank for discus.

Angels/discus isn't a bioload issue, it's a the fish not fitting in the tank issue.

Maybe some ram chiclids would be good :)

Discus or angels shouldn't be kept in less than a 29g, IMO. A mated pair of each will go into that size tank.. for the discus it will need to be BB, after that, you should be looking for tanks no less than 40g, with 10g per fish in a barebottom tank with at least every other day 50% changes. A planted 40g with other fish and a bonded pair will also be nice.

You will most likely encounter space issues as the others mentioned, as well as bioload issues, discus aren't small fish when full grown. I think Nataku has mentioned the average adult discus hitting 6.5'. The neons may have trouble adapting to the temperature requirements of discus also.

I agree with the others, a pair of blue rams or apistos would be a nice addition to your tank. :)'
