hey guys well i have a house down in Key West and behind me theres an ocean and theres a wall full of rock, i was wondering if i would be able to take some out of there or pick them off the ocean floor and use them for my saltwater tank? what do you guys think would it work?

i dont mean taking corals.. i know its illegal to take corals but i mean rocks..but yeah i know the best bet would be buying some from a store but i was just wondering

i believe the rule applie to live rock, which generaly is reef byproducts (dead corals) plus, you could easily get a rock which could destroy your perimeters.

Totally illegal. That's why aquacultured rock has come into existence.

All previous posts are 100% accurate, it is very illegal in the U.S. and the Marine Patrol here in Florida is always on the look out for that. If you were to be unlucky and get caught, the fines are stiff.

Check out garf.org, they have some good articles about making your own live rock. I have been considering setting up a spare 10 gallon tank to try this out myself.
