I just got 2 electric blue haps and 2 lemon yellows for my 46g tall. The saleperson stated that they like to eat some sort of vegetable pellets rather than ordinary cichlid pellets. I got what he suggested and also some African Cichlid "attack" sinking pellets. What should I be feeding these guys? Also Is that about the limit for this tank? I have 4 africans, a birchir, eel cat, and a pleco. I would like a surface fish for the tank to fill the top part is there anything?

I wouldnt put anything else in there in my opinion. Also you can slice up pieces of cucumber and give them a little variety.

Don't put anything else in it, reason being is because a 46 gallon tall doesn't have as much length to them for these africans, africans aren't top dwellers, you usually see them in the middle and bottom layers of the tank because they enjoy swimming. Tall tanks don't give them their necessary swimming room. Cool sounding tank though, pictures?

The Hap is a piscivore and if by "lemon yellow" you mean electric yellow - Labidochromis caeruleus, it is an omnivore - regular pellets are fine, with some veggie pellets or fresh veggies mixed in from time to time.
