Is it possible for Kuhli loaches, Glass Catfish, Rainbowfish or Otto cats to catch Neon Tetra Disease? I have a possible outbreak of it (2 Neons & 3 Blackline Tetras have died so far) and so I removed the possible infected fish (3 Neons, 3 Cardinals, 4 Blackline penguinfish, 2 Feeder Guppies) to a quarantine tank for the time being.

NTD is the only disease that fits the description of what it could be. The symptoms the fish are displaying are discoloration or fading, erratic swimming, bloating and lump near spine. I don't have any pics but any info regarding NTD is greatly appreciated. I know the disease is incurable, but hopefully I can stop it from spreading.

It is most definitely possible for the sporozoan to invade other species, but from what I have read there is also a bacterial cause that results in very similar symptoms (hence the name "False Neon Tetra Disease")...apparently it's near impossible to distinguish between the two without looking at the infected tissue and identifying the protists.

Hopefully the other fish will be fine, at the very least!

Sadly the quarantined fish didn't make it but everyone in the main tank seems to be doing fine. Thanks for the reply!
