I'm relatively new to this, so please forgive my ignorance if the answer is obvious... what are the types of cichlids in your avatar? Thanks!

Thanks

Thanks--Now I know what I have! :dance I thought they were Yellow Labs at first, but there was no black at the top of their dorsal fin.

Any thoughts on good tankmates for them, or are they best left alone?

Just out of curiousity, why would you be getting rid of yours?

Because i have lotsa babies from them that i want to raise up instead... I would rather have more males and females and i figure its best to just sell these and raise up the young all together to be the same age and such. Plus i can get good money for a proven breeding colony, although its not hard with these fish to make them breed.

:)
they are great fish and pretty peaceful. other peaceful mbuna make good tankmates. It all depends on the size of tank.

Are you sure they are salousies? There are lots of yellow africans ;) I would check through the species profiles on this site: http://www.malawimayhem.com just to make sure. :P

What were they sold to you as?

I'm pretty sure now... I've checked out the site you posted and a bunch of others.

I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but they came from Wal-Mart under the general moniker of African Cichlids. Unfortunately that is about as good as it gets for fish where I live :(

Actually, I have yet to see any Walmart sell P. saulosi, especially in mixed tanks.

They are MOST LIKELY something else, perhaps the all yellow lab they sell these days which is actually most likely a cross between a Red Zebra and a yellow lab. These yellow labs lack the black and have a head shape more like a zebra than a lab.

Any chance of a pic?
