Question on the black ghost knife

hi can any one tell me about this type of fish?
many many years ago i was working in a pet store sold all kinds but i had never sen this type of fish.
we had got one last week he is or she is about 4inches long with a little white stripe on its head we call it skunk ,now my questions are do they change color ? whatother type of fish will go good with him in our 55 gal?
right now we have with him a needle nose,tiger barbs gaint danios two sail fin catfish,the afican stripe type of fish. but the last fews days he would hide and i would see him at 545 in the morrning then he hides we dont realy know what he eats and not sure who bit his tail. can any one tell me what he eats and if he is a scaviger? :cool:
 
He will not change color and a 55g is to small for an adult as they can grow roughly 19" long. It is an amazing fish I have one and its one of my favs. Mine started out about the same size and has grown roughly 2" over the summer but I think that is because he is in pretty much perfecto conditions and eats like royalty. Mine loves frozen bloodworms/beef heart/brine shrimp and the occasional ghost shrimp, I have even caught him eating zuchini. they are night scavengers and do need a good hiding spot during the day. mine is out often but i think its because i've had him for a while.

thank you for that some time next spring or sooner we will be getting a 300gal tank to up in the livingroom and put the 55 in the family do you anything about the needle nose? if you do can you tell me i have been trying to check and i'll get that they can grow 33 inches and only eat guppies do they any thing else?
 
according to liveaquaria, they get to 1' 3'' and will eat live fish and crusteaceans although they can probably be trained to eat frozen food

also, the BGK uses electricity to navigate so you shouldn't keep it with any other fish that use electricity
