I had recently bought a 150 gallon tank, and I wanted to put sand as a substrate, my question is would it be bad to have sand in the tank for my south american redtail catfish, is he going to swallow it everytime he eats, or will him swimming around cause the tank to get cloudy, should I have any problems????

thanks for any help

Possibly both, although the ingesion will likely not cause much trouble, depending on the type of sand you use.

Why such a small tank, though?

Red Tails prefer sand over gravel. Much less harsh on their under belly when swimming around. So, sand is a good choice... but 150g is not. 150 is fine for a while, but eventually you will need much bigger. Start planning now! :) Good luck.

1000g+

500g are ok, but a happy RTC gets the 1000 deal.
