if i were to put 3 tetras in to a 10 gallon uncycled tank with a sponge filter and add another 3 tetras to a 10g cycled tank with a hob filter the tetras with out the cycled tank will die? what would the difference be?
just curious not trying to prove anyone wrong here... :dance2:
-thanks so much

Depends on the species of tetras, depends on the length of time in which they live in the uncycled tank. Depends on the individual fish. Depends on blind luck.

Here is something for you to consider:

My 20g long, heavily planted tank started as an unplanted 10g in April 2003.

As of last fall it became what it is now.

Two zebra danios were used to make the original cycle.

One of those is still swimming around in the tank to this day, and has outlived several fish that have been added since the tank was cycled and stable.

I can relate to the hardy zebra danio used for cycling.

When we first started over 2 years ago, we bought a few feeder guppies and a little zebra danio snuck into the bag. That danio is still here and zipping around after moving twice, being used in two cycling tanks, and countless minor disasters and bouts with ick. A couple weeks I saw it had a big infected ulcer and figured it would die. That big ulcer is now mostly healed and he is still zipping around. I think that fish might be immortal!
