So i purchased a good test kit from the LFS yesturday and tested the tap water straight out of the tap

Ph - 7.5
Kh - 2
Gh - 3
Nh3+Nh4 - .25
NO2 - <.3

Let the water sit in a container where the tank is set up over nite and these are the reading i got aprox 24 hrs later

Ph - 7.0
Kh - 2
Gh - 2
Nh3+Nh4 - .25
N02 - <.3

Hoping to get the filter in the mail tom, And start non-fish cycle. Should i treat the water in any way prior to adding it to the tank?

Thanks again

KH is a little low for fishless cycling, which can burn thru the carbonates pretty fast once you start oxidizing ammonia and nitrite. I'd bump KH up to at least 3 (or 4) while cycling. You can add a bit of baking soda -- maybe a tablespoon of baking soda per 20 gallons of water -- and see what that does to KH. Give it a day to fully dissolve and then retest; add more if necessary.

Otherwise, have at it!

Good luck,
Jim
