Indian Larry,'' whose given name is Larry Desmedt, fell off a moving motorcycle Saturday while performing before 8,000 people at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center in Concord as part of the Liquid Steel Classic and Custom Bike Series.

Not sure how he was...google his name. He died doing what he loved to do. :sad

You gotta be kidding me!!!

I loved his stuff. Heck, just 2 days ago I was watching him and Jessie James on the discovery channel... That's horrible.. He worked wonders with steel. And I loved the style of his bikes. I was even thinking of calling him one day to get a custom built for me, just cause I love the style of his bikes..

It's really too bad... But as you said, at least he died doing what he loved most...

Yep, to bad indeed. Fell of his big doing one of his tricks. Might have survived had he been wearing the dreaded helmet...skid lid..brain bucket.
Be interesting to see if more sates make wearing helmets mandatory. Should be anyhow.

yikes!!! I was out in PA this past weekend and couldn't tell you how many bikers I saw making it down the highways without helmets...... *shudder* I think out of say 60 bikers the entire weekend, 5-10 had helmets.....and that's not even exaggerating....

Florida HAD a helmet law, but was repealed a couple years ago or so. I think that was the stupidest thing they have ever done. When I used to ride dirt bikes I always wore mine, but there were always people around me that wouldn't wear them.

The pressure to repeal the law probably came from many of the same folks who double punched their ballot cards in '00.

This is sad news. I wasn't really a fan of his particular style but he had plenty of it. He was a real master. Definitely a man who lived life.

I can't imagine riding without a helmet or driving without a seatbelt but I also don't need the government telling me I have to. If people want to risk their own lives so be it.

DD I know what you mean. While on our honeymoon one of our stops was in Freeport Maine. I had to take some video of bikers not wearing helmets. Up here you hardly see riders how are not wearing full face protection.
While I get the idea of riding with the wind in your hair and bugs in your teeth and freedom to do what you want and all that, there is the underlying principal that the ground is a lot harder than your head, so to protect what you can makes sense.
Take a lesson from Indian Larry...get your helmet today. Your truma doctors and parents will thank you.
Philbe gets down of the soap box now.

I hear ya Philbe! I know in Jersey it's big trouble if you don't have a helmet on..... from either Jersey drivers or Jersey Law Enforcement. I guess I was just so shocked because I didn't realize that although Jersey enforces the helmet law, not every other state does..... I thought we were only the last ones to have full-service gas stations....
