It is with great regret I announce the loss of Puff and Bubbles.
I moved them to my pond hoping they will get a better life as my 75g currently houses my ryukins and orandas, all being pushovers towards food but in the next few days, I decided to look at my pond to check both of them. I was shocked when I could not find them. I had a series of previous mysterious disappearances with some of my fish before that I moved there but I thought maybe the stray cats may have been the culprit although since we now have the dobermann manning the garden, I ruled that out and I have not seen stray cats sneaking in the garden anymore.
While trying to cover all areas to see a sign of hope for Puff and Bubbles, I decided to comb the bottom and saw to my shock, a fish with serrated set of dorsal fins. I realized for the first time much to my chagrin what has been responsible for the mysterious disappearances...my 12" chubby senegal bichir.
It had been two years since I moved her there and I completely forgot her existence. I'll have to sell her as I need the pond for my goldfish...sigh...I am really heartbroken to lose my pearlscales. They meant a lot to me. I confided this first to Kashta because I am blaming myself for forgetting the bichir is around.
Here are the pics of Puff and Bubbles in tribute.
