During a recent visit to a Baltimore area aquarium store I asked about the availability of ramshorn snails, and was told they are not for sale in Maryland due to being considered a pest. Is this true? Also if not, does anyone within say an hour or so drive from Baltimore have any Ramshorns available? Color isn't much of an issue-my last surviving ramshorn from a batch I got about four years ago is the brown color, but any available color is fine with me. Many thanks in advance.

I'd ask around to a few different places. Many don't sell them, because they're considered a pest snail. That said, I sometimes find places that "sell" pest snails. In my case, I found a Petco that exchanges a pest snail for a 1 cent donation to Petco Charities, and a PetSmart that gives them away if you ask for them.
