I agree with all of you actually. Common plants may be common to many, but to someone just starting out, they may be absolutely wonderful!

As to equipment, decorations, and such - I think there's nothing wrong with this thread being that and plants - basically anything and everything fish related that you don't need. The OP of this thread didn't know that there were so many newbies on this forum and that the original offer started things off badly :lipssealedsmilie: and is almost sorry they started it at all because of all the fussing it has started! :wall: I think that it can be salvaged and thrive if we just keep plugging along and all just do what we can. Those who talked about offering up good stuff did so with good intentions to keep the thread thriving, but ended up having the opposite effect. One of them at least :lipssealedsmilie: is sorry they said anything and apologize to anyone that was offended by the comments! Let's just jump in with what we have (equipment, books, plants, decorations, or whatever) and move on.

I think that is a fantastic idea. Any offer fish related to be considered, if one has more to share than another, that should be fine especially if its truly supposed to be a random act of kindness. Some people have beautiful high tech set-ups, some have low-light low fuss set ups. I think that if we open our minds to all offers, the raok will take off more. I think its a beautiful concept, and am looking forward to participating. Hopefully people will jump on this.

I just want to say, I love the idea of the ROAK thread. And SOMEDAY, when i have something of value, I'll join in. So those of you concerned about it slowing down... don't worry too much. I'm sure someone will jump in there.

I have a feeling a lot of people just don't feel they have anything to offer. I know I don't. Unless someone wants a bunch of danios. lol.

all i have to offer is some fake plants(even though they are cool!), a big lizard cave, andddd.. idk thats it :\

the thing thats stopping me from offering is the shipping part. ive never shipped anything before.
i also have a 1.5ish gallon hex setup that im thinking about giving away

Hey, never let shipping scare you. You simply take a box, pad or protect your item, fill in the loose places somehow (shipping popcorn or something like that) so it doesn't rattle around (USPS and others don't like to hear things rattle) - then label it good and take it to the post office (or whoever you choose to use). Of course, if you are computer savvy like I think you are, then USPS.com click-n-ship is awesome!

Your little hex set up sounds like a nice RAOK. Just dive in, you'll have fun and someone will want your stuff and you'll want someone's stuff!

alright, sounds easy enough. i have some spare shipping peanuts somewhere around my house.
do they price shipping by the size of the box or by the weight?

alright, thanks.
so this RAOK, you take the current offer and put up your offer? im still a tiny bit confused

If you opened it up, so that people could offer without taking the very last offer, you'd bet more "bites". People shouldn't have to wait to offer something until something they want comes up, it'll just end up being a dead-end. If a mod isn't willing to edit posts once the offer is taken, it could be done in the same way that Freecycle does it. Once an item is taken, they make a post saying that their items were taken.
