We are doing a program in our class called TIC, or Trout in the Classroom! We are getting the trout eggs in the next few days. We have to be SOO careful b/c they usually don't make it. We have to do every other day water changes and we have like 3 filters to keep the tank crystal clear. There's also a chiller, and we have foam board all over the tank so it stays completely dark (the eggs can't be exposed to light for more than about 15 minutes at a time :O). I have a feeling I'll be one of the most active helpers! lol I'll keep everyone posted. Oh, and no flash photography is aloud, so probably no pics :( srry!

that's really cool! I did something similar when i was in high school. are you eventually going to release them into a trout-populated river?

Yes we are going to release them into our local stream! :)

what about recording???

what do you mean?

Cool stuff! Ive never heard of this before but it sounds really interesting and like a cool learning learning experience.

We got them on tues! Just reporting now 'cause I didn't have time yesterday. We possibly have over 300, which was the amount we were supposed to get. They weeded out the dead ones and we were looking at them under a microscope. More news later maybe!

The eggs are currently in the eyed stage, and they look like this:

Only they are brook trout, so they will look like this when they're adults:
