Can I get a female Green Terror to keep my single male company?

The guy at the LFS told me no because my tank which is 45-gallons is to small.

Right now my male is around 6-inches.

The only issue would be if the male would constantly bother the female.

I keep my water conditions PERFECT with daily 40% changes/gravel-vacs.

Have plenty of air with a large power-head and keep the water filtered OVERKILL with a pair of Aqua-Clear 110 Power Filters.

He has lived my himself since I purchased him.

i would say that the guy at the LFS is right i wouldnt put a male and a female green terror in a 45 gallon tank. u do realize that green terrors can reach 10-12" (males) at full maturity and i would hope that u plan on buying a larger tank for the male soon.

the 45g is only 10" maybe 12" wide if i am thinkin right, that is not enough for a 12" fish to town around, let alone have 2 of them and breed.

You are definately pushing the limits witha GT in a 45g - but he looks great - don't rock the boat - I'd leave him alone.

re:

my friend did that and it work!!! so maybe it could happen!!! :D
My friend's GTs are now happy in that 45-50gallon tank!!! i dont know how  but they are ok :o

go for it as long as it is just them and the tank is big enough for them to turn around in, and u can cut down on the daily water changes cuz u might be getting rid of all the good bacteria. do it weekly. bty nice terror.

i think you'll be asking for trouble. as others have said, your tank is already too small for even a single green terror at maturity. forcing a "pair" is rarely successful with cichlids and most often ends up with the female being brutalized. you've got a nice looking fish there .. why ruin things.

if you do decide to do it , make sure you put a lot of decor/plants in the tank to keep the aggression down to a minimun, bkuz with a lot of plants its hard for 1 fish to see another and thus keeps the aggression lower
