Received new fish,but don't know what

Thanks. My parent's friend only gave me one, so is it ok to keep it by itself or should i buy some friends for it? It does get scared pretty easily and swim pretty hard towards the glass wall if it gets frighten.

If you're not planning on upgrading the 10gallon tank its in now, I would think about finding a new home for it. As stated, these guys get 4+", prefer schools, and as you've noticed, are pretty fast, active fish. They need a lot of room to swim. I have a school of 6 in my 150 and they are always all over the tank. A 10gal is just not sufficient to properly care for this species.

Ok i think I'll upgrade to a 55gallon tank, just waiting on the craigslist post to show up. haha Do silver dollar pair well with cardinal tetras? i really want a school of them in my tank.
