My sister has a betta that she kept in a .5 gallon bowl with only 2 inches of swimmable water, changed the water about every month, and fed him every week. After I got into the hobby of aquariums, I told her that she had to buy a bigger tank.

So about 3 weeks ago we went to Petsmart and bought a 2.5 gallon tank just for him. Java moss from duke33, a piece of wood I found in my backyard, playsand, some plant that came with a betta kit, a heater that came with a goldfish kit (:screwy:), and a background I tore off of an old sofa. (He was flaring at the mirror behind him for 2 days before my sister noticed:lipssealedsmilie:)
Here are some pictures:

Then about a week ago, my sister realized that there was food and poop on the bottom that had dissolved and spread everywhere, so she got 5 ghost shrimp. Next morning, they were all dead. The betta had pried them apart and picked off every one of their legs. :wall:

So we realized that he doesn't like to play nice, so we thought that we needed a filter to clean up all the gunk and poo that was intertwined in the java moss and all over the floor.

What kind of filter do you recommend for a 2.5 gallon betta tank?
