Red Fins Mating?

Hi all,

New to this site, this is my first post. I recently bought 2 Red Fin Sharks and about an hour after I released them into my tank, I noticed that they were rubbing against one another. I'm not too familiar with the habits of aquarium fish, but a friend suggested that maybe they were mating. Is this a possibility? Thanks!

Red Fin Sharks are normally very territorial.

It seems likely from your description they are banging into each others side to figure out who is boss. They are not very easy to breed, and would need lots of conditioning to do so.

Generally I recommend one Red-Tail, red finned, or black shark per tank as they are also territorial with other fish the same size and shape.
