dunno about the red flashlight... but if u go to the search option and search for blacklight you'll find a bunch of threads aobut using blacklights for moonlights... apparently theres a big debate over whether or not its safe for your fish, but i odnt think that really matters because i can assure you that if u use a blacklight as a moonlight you wont get the appearance that you're probably looking for. i tried it and all that it really does is make the water look cloudy. you're better off using blue led's. i rigged up a diy moonlight over my 75 gal freshwater tank using led's and it looks awesome. blue led's r definitely the way to go. plus, if you diy it shouldnt cost more than $20
yup yup, I plan the LED route, Just using a old blacklight temporarily until I get the setup...
BTW, I personally don't think it's hurting anything, but I don't know for sure... I just know that my pepermint shrimp is molting better and all my critters are reproducing like mad...
If anyone can tell me the negative end of black light let me hear it....
yes, the blacklight is used when all the other lights go out...
It only a 16inch flourescent black light so it doesn't light the tank up much but it seems to make the inverts happier.
Streamlight makes a LED penlight in red. I'm not sure how big of a flashight you are looking for but it is what I use for looking for things hiding in the rock at night. You can get them at Bass Pro shops and other outdoors places that sells hunting stuff. Also police supply store carry streamlight. I think it was $12.
well i have a red led, it works good, its just a pain cause its one of those "squeeze" types.(fingers get sore) im just wanting one that you can turn on via switch etc.. but cant find one!
