Depends on the size of the fish. If the RTS is small enough the gar may think it's lunch. Also keep in mind that after a while when the gar starts to get bigger it may start to think the RTS is food. Theoretically they should be able to be ok because they inhabit different portions of the water. The RTS is mostly bottom, and the gar is mostly top.
