Red Tail Shark

All RTS have very different personalities.

I kept mine with 2 pairs of GBRs, killies, and panda corys. I doubt the RTS even knows the corys are there, and he rarely gets territorial, maybe during feeding, but still very minimal and only towards the female betta, which i think is because she somewhat resembles a RTS with her red tail.

I think that a 10 gallon is okay for a pair of GBRs now, but when they max out it would be best to get them a larger tank.

And im not sure that a 10 gallon would work for a RTS and a piar of GBRs, so i'd pick one or the other. And then maybe get a small school of tetras.

ive heard the RTS will eat on the the slime coat of other fish has any one witnessed this behavior?
Have'nt seen that either.......:)

Does your tank have a cave to hide in? My wife has a RTS in her classroom tank, and it LOVES to hide. When it was small, we had this small decoration of an empty barrell on rocks, and it pretty much stayed in there. Then, we got one of those cheap shipwreck decorations. You never even see the shark anymore, you pretty much have to reach in and pick up the ship to see if he's still alive. He only comes out from time to time. He was aggressive at times, but now that he can hide, he leaves the other fish alone more.

Thanks again for the replys and info everyone. Ill wait on the Blue Rams until I can move my redtail to a bigger home. davexstumpe, i have been thinking of getting a small school of tetras or something once my tank cycles. Any recommendations? and Kuhlifan i dont have a cave but i have a bunch of fake plants and a big rock in there. He looks really cool patroling around his rock. He can dash around the fake plants really fast too, he is neat.

like i said i would wait until you deal with your RTS before adding anything.

Kuhlifan mine did the same thing. until it went crazy and attacked the other fish.

davexstumpe how old is yours? yes fish can have different personalities but i do find aggregation common with the ones i have had and the many many posts of people having problems with them.
