I just picked up two festae from my LFS. They are both about three quarters of an inch and I have them in a ten gallon for now. I am cycling a 20L for their next step and am thinking about a tank for the long term. I currently have a 90 with (all fish approximately 6 inches or so) vieja sinspilium, black belt, JD, pleco and sun cat. I am thinking about getting a 125 and moving in these fish (thanks for the suggestion Harry) and moving the festae into the ninety with probably a pleco. Does this seem viable? What filtration should I run on the 125? On the ninety I have two penguin 170s and a fluval 404. Is this adequate for the festae?

Sorry I meant an inch and three quarters. The fish that is.

the penguin 170s and the fluval 404 should make the filtration adequate. but yea i would move the fish in the 90g to a new 125g if u got it. that would be the best.

Thanks for the link bob. I am definately sure they are festae, especially after reading that information. I had gotten a picture from tangledupincichlids.com to double check before I purchased the fish, and from what I understand Jeff Rapps has a great amount of knowledge. They have the eight stripes down the body and the tail spot that only extends half way. Acording to the LFS salesman they came from a breeder in Illinois but I did not ask specifics. I will next time I go in. But to make a long story short, yes I am sure they are festae.
