My babies got me a betta from Petsmart for Mother's day; yes one of the blue water cup bettas. It was really sweet and I know they meant well. He is a very pretty boy, but I am concerned about some red veining he has on his tail and such. Is this a sign of something wrong or is it normal in the lighter tailed fishies? Could it just be his coloration? If this something wrong what can I treat him with? Should the snails in his tank be removed prior to treatment?

he's a lovely fish, after enlarging the picture i noticed the Y shape "vein" on the tail...not the tail fin.

I am not sure what that may be, the resolution isn't that great. you may want to make sure what it is before treating him since most treatment sold are for pretty specific ailment

very beautiful :)
seems absolute normal and healthy to me ... lets see what other think ;)
good luck

Unless the fish appears to move listlessly with clamped fins and loss of appetite, your fish is healthy. Notice how the betta flares its fins around? That is not a sign of a sick betta to me at all. Just keep a close watch on it but if you ask me, your fish is a very healthy specimen.

Thanks all :) I guess I am an overly worried betta mommy :)

Wow that is beautifull finnage on that betta.
