Do africans have teeth too? Ive always know that centril americans have teeth, my red devil and Jag both have very noticible teeth, I just happened to be looking real close at my zebra today though and I noticed he has a whole mouth full of teeth!? Is he some kind of hybrid or do zebra's get teeth too and I was just not aware of it?

Africans have teeth as well (atleast Mbuna do...)....they are pretty small though.

Excuse the algae in the pic, but here is one of my Cynotilapia afra cobue males :D :

Yeah they have teeth. And they use them to eat and fight. Mine are killing geach other. Bad little fishes.

Well ive got more new world cichlids than I do africans. The africans wisely dont mess with the new worlders but they do occasionally turn their teeth on each other. That zebra I was asking about recently just destroyed an electric blue ahli a few weeks ago out of nowhere.

i think the reason no one replied after that is because there is a conspiracy going on....... no one wants to talk about mixing africans and new world in my opinion a dog is a dog the same a cichlid is a cichlid now some dogs mite not like cold weather but i doesn't mean they die. so any other opinions because i have all african and so badly want a convict but no one will tell me out

I have african's and a mated pair of convicts as well as a some other cichlids and they have all been in the same tank for almost a year now doing just fine. I do have one (I believe he's a hap) who wants to boss everyone in the tank around, but so far there haven't been any real fights just the stare downs until one backs off. My two convicts pretty much stay in a back corner and concentrate on having babies and seem to care less about any of the other fish unless they get to close then they just chase them off. I know I'll be blasted for this but my opinion is each fish is different and have their own personalities and what works for some may not work for others. In my case it's working fine for me at this time and if that changes I'll start moving fish around.
Okay that's my 2 cents worth, hope it helps :)
