i have a 30 gallon tank with 2 HOB filters, one penguin 300 (old model) and another penguin 330 (up to date model). its a planted tank, a bit over stocked, hence the filtration. but my problem is that the flow of water originates from the back of the tank where the filters are, hits the front glass, then redirects downward, creating a little too much turbulence at the foreground. its not really a problem for the fish, i guess its more of a personal preference for me. i'd like for the fish to have the option of resting or hanging out in the foreground instead of being pushed away. so i was wondering if there's a spray bar for HOB filters? but if there's a spray bar, that means the tubing would have to connect directly from the propeller intake, bypass the biological filtration, and back into the tank right?

You can tilt the HOB forward to direct the flow more to your needs or you can install your own deflector. As they say - "necessity is the mother of invention".

You could also take an aquaclear media sponge, cut it so it's about 1/3 of an inch thick and silicone it to the spillway so the flow goes down and not straight out.

I took a 2 liter coke bottle and cut off the top and bottom and then cut it down the side. put one end under the filter in front of the outflow and wrapped the other end up over the top, now the flow comes out side to side and turbulence is way better. Its real easy to do and you cant even hardly see it once its on there.
