I'm in the process of redoing my 150 gal tank. I bought a 90 gal tank, stand, and a wet/dry filter for only $100.00. :) The guy I bought it from had it only setup for about a year and got tired of taking care of it and took it all down. My wife said that now that I have 5 tanks I'm done. We'll see. That is besides the point.

I moved everything in my 150 gal Discus tank to it. I'm going to redo the 150 and make it a CA tank. I have a few questions though.

I'm planning on using river gravel and a few clay pots. I'm going to get them from Home Depot. I've seen posted that people have done this, but I'm not sure if there is anything special I need to do with them before putting it into the tank. Better safe than sorry later.

Thanks in advance.

Rinse them very well...Otherwise you'll end up with a bunch of silt that gets stirred up and clouds the tank. Best bet is to use a bucket and hose, running water through til it runs clear.

What about the clay pots?

Give the gravel a good rinse to get rid of as much dust and as possible, you can give the pots a quick rinse if you want but it isn't really necessary.

I actually was talking about the gravel...I don't think new pots would have much dust to rinse off.
