My 8 in RES male ate a big chunk of silicon from off a rock. I couldn't grab it before he swallowed it!!
Will it cause problems or maybe just get pooped out (I hope!)? Any ideas?

Most likely it will come out with in goes to the bathroom. It should come out intact so keep an eye out for it so it can be removed from the water right away.
