Hi Folks!

This is part Rant & Part Question...Question in BOLD down below!

Well, I rescued an 18 Gal tank from an apartment in my complex that the renters had been evicted...

The inhabitants of this tank somewhat shocked me!

I couldn't think of anyone that would be so freakin stupid.

Occupants of the tank:
3 rasboras-2 of the 3 were missing an eye
a TON of Guppies-4 Males and 7 females
a Plex that was about 5" long
a Khuli loach

A Betta-Fins totally thrashed

AND...a Freakin BGK that was about 5" long.

I tried to keep the BGK alive in my 55 but after about a week, it "gave up the Ghost" (Pun Intended). The Guppies & Rasboras were given to a neighbor as he has a tank that they should be fine in. I kept a couple of the female guppies as my Endlers have been chasing them(so it's an excersize program for Endlers! LOL).

The Betta and the khuli are now living peacefully in the 55!

Now, for Betta...
His fins were totally destroyed...but he did still have the rays for them. My guess is the BGK was trying to snack on him.

Anyway, it looks like the fins are growing back...but they look somewhat transparent/clear. Will they eventually color up again or will he be the sympathy case for the rest of his life???

i got a crowntail betta from petco with part of his tail missing. its growing back, but not the way it should be. the rays are still all connected, not sepparating into the "crown" like it should. but it is healed and growing and he's unnafected by it.

Well, Betta seems to be adjusting nicely and the fins do appear to be growing back and now starting to color up!

He's looking like he would have been a really beautiful blue Betta if he hadn't been mis-treated.

I'm hoping he'll recover fully as far as the fins go...but it's really funny when he tries to flare up at the other fish!
