:1zhelp: Hey guys, this might be the wrong place to post my question, but i need as much help as my new tank. Lets star from the beginning but make a long story short.

Today i was driving along US1 right by my house and i see this older couple with the help of another 2 guys basically dragging this beautiful fish tank out of their house and placing it on the front lawn right next to a pile of junk i assumed they were throwing out. So i made a U-turn at the light and drove to them and asked the obvious question. " is this tank for sale?" And this was the answer " For sale?! I am throwing it away, the people who were renting from us left the country and left this here. I hate fish tanks, they are a hassle. "
Needless to say, I have a new tank. My question though is this, i have in it 2 yellow Gourami , 2 Cichlids , and 2 Dannios. Can i keep this fish together? and what kind of cichlid are they ?

The Pic is fussy at best, but i am worried about my new friends.

Thanks in advance for your help.

they kinda look like peacocks and no you cant keep them together the cichlids might tear the gouramies apart and eat the danios

Umm, i did not use a camera, i used a phone in a hurry. But now that i see this post i can tell it looks just like your avatar. I mean, down to the eye color, the only thing is that this 2 are about 1.5 inches. What do you think? Do i need a new home for them? if i do i need suggestions on a new tank. I didnt spend a penny on this one so i can afford a new tank at the moment and i am willing to buy it too, or can i put the danios and the gourami in my community tank 2 and 2 repectivelly. On this tank i have 8 neon tetra, 12 gallaxy platy (male and females ) and nothing else, this community tank is 174 gallons so its almost empty.
As far as the new tank goes, it is 45 gallons, if i can use it what else can i put there with the cichlids and how many, i want them to be confortable so i dont want to over poppulate the tank and what is the best set up as far as plants, driftwood rocks the works. Thanks guys, although i still dont know that the fish are i do appreciate the responces and the advice as i have never had cichlids before.

Jack up the mbuna number. The way you have it now, you will lose almost all of the fish but one mbuna. Once you find out what exactly they are, buy four or five more of each, and wait to see how many males you have. When you see one hiding a lot, get rid of it, because it is most likely a non-dominant male. Also, if you see two fighting or chasing each other a lot, get rid of the one that usually doesn't win or usually gets chased. Your goal should be to have 1 male per 2-3 females of each species. Mbuna need to be packed in to curb aggression.

Thanks for the replies and for the help. As to "jacking up the numbers" i will do that.... I guess i will have a cichlids tank after all.
