I've recently aquired (3mos) 4 F1 juvies, and was wondering if anyone has any experience with Retroculus Xinguensis.

They are presently housed in a 55g, with an oversized HOB, and a powerhead set to draw from the opposite end of the tank to create current. The ph is 6.4, temp is 81, and I do approx 50% water change a week. They eat bloodworms, live and frozen brine, occasional mysis, and a homemade geletine consisting of spirulina, peas, shrimp w/shells, and an enriched pellet food. I keep 3 WC Satanaperca Juripari, and a common pleco in with them. I keep and breed other Earth Eaters and know that the Juripari prefer less current, but the shelter of the driftwood gives them a calm pool to retreat to. These three are only temporary house guests anyways. They will soon live in a 300g with a number of F1 and WC Satanaperca Leucostica and Juripari.

Here's a couple pics:

the geletine food clouds the water for about 10 min, then the water is crystal clear. The bag of peat resides in the HOB filter.

Nothing to add...except, very nice!

ah, Retroculus Retroculus how do i love thee ... let me count the ways. i love these fish and have been looking for them for several years ... where'd you get yours?

You and me both. I have searched for some time with no luck. Where did you get yours? I see a guy in Seattle that has them every now and then, but I always seem to miss out.

I picked them up from Lisa Newman, Lee's wife. I believe they still have some from this first batch. If your still looking for them, I'm willing to help. The shipping would be easy.

cheers
