I am thinking of setting up a reverse flow UGF for a 15gal tank, but I am uncertain of what all I would need for this.

Would the Penguin 660R RF, plus a perfect-a-flo UGF be all that I need, or is there something else?

Also, if I have the Eclipse-1 hood, would the Penguin 660R power-head even fit with this hood on?

you will need a reverse flow sponge kit to filter the water being pulled in ($5-10 depending on source)

The 660 R should come with a suction cup, to submerse it in the tank and stick it to the glass, they also come with a bracket to hang on the rim. one way or the other it will work, you may have to cut a hole for the cord to come out through but that should be all.

Doesn't the 660R Reverse Flow come with the sponge?

In my ThatFishPlace.com catalog there is a listing for a plain 660 power-head (175gph), a 660R (175gph), and a reverse flow kit.

It's good to know the 660R comes with a suction cup (couldn't tell from the info I had), because the bracket more than likely would not work.

I guess I should pay more attention, I honestly can't answer that question, but it would stand to reason that you won't need to buy the kit,I have never actuallr bought the 660R myself and am just accoustomed to buying a kit with my powerheads. I haven't bought any new powerheads for several years except for a couple I've picked up off of e-bay

Penguin 660 Powerhead (Marineland)

Item Number: QI0178

is this the same as the 660 R,

its the one on thatfishplace.com

If I understand the replies from brookelyn correctly, the 660r is a 660 powerhead and a reverse flow sponge kit packaged together. So yes the powerhead is the same, If you buy the R, you don't have to buy the sponge kit seperately
