so we tried to go to the river today one last time but it was all dried up except a singe big puddle, with at least eight hundred carp and other fish stuck in it. so we got our nets and saved what we could.we do this every year just its not normally so soon. and normally we pull out carp, catfish(bullhead and channel), black crappie, bass, desert suckers, minnows, and crayfish but today we got an extra surprise. we pulled out half a dozen river gobys. i never seen them here before so this was a thrill for me minus all the dead fish lying around the ground were the river dried up. tomorrow we are going back for more for my uncles pond and i will post pics. by the way e always qt our fish.:grinyes:

some are going in my pond and some in my uncles, but one or two my stay in our tank, but from my research they can reach over seven inches and thats a little two big. they are about two inches right now.

sorry no pics yet but i will hopefully get some up soon, but i had another question today i found what looks like an eel and its definitely not a parasite or something, and i cant find it online, it looks like its has no eyes and on the side of it were its gill should be it looks like its almost bleeding or cuts but its not. any info may help.

Might be some kind of Lungfish. They usually have very small eyes or none at all because they can stay under the ground for long periods of time. Some lung fish can even live out of water for periods at a time. This might be why the gills on it look weird. Just my guess tho.

Try for some pics of it!!!

But of course that wouldn't stop anyone from releasing one...not sure of what you found. You could try NANFA's forum with descriptions but I bet someone here could ID it with a pic. I'd check out any sites listing CA's native fish too and see if you can find it...
