I just saw a ropefish in a lfs and fell in love with them. i've been doing a lot of research on them. but i found nothing on this. can i keep a ropefish with my jack dempsey? what do you think?

i havent heard of them being brackish, where did you hear that if you dont mind me asking? most likely a JD would kill it unless they grew up together and the JD was never fed live and was always kept full.

after just looking at a couple sites, it looks like they may be found in brackish, but are in general a freshwater fish, so that is how they should be kept, fw.

Erpetoichthys calabaricus, aka ropefish, are not brackish fish at all. A jack dempsey would end up dissembling the ropefish before long...it would be a poor risk.
