I have a 30gallon with some cories, rams and rosboras and one of the rosboras died today. He was swimming funny and near the surface gasping for air it seemed (none of the other fish were doing it) so i did a 40% water change thinking okay maybe something is wrong with my water so better to do a change. He was doing better for a bit looked like he'd recover til the stupid male betta pecked at him and then he turned upside down and died.

I was thinking either the betta picked on him til he died or maybe when i was adding Tetra Plant liquid fertilizer a few i may have poured it right ontop of him and damaged his gills or poisoned him somehow. Anyway I put the betta in a breeder box and now hes not allowed to swim around freely anymore.

dont punish the Betta, its natural for fish to pick on sick or dying fish.

You are having problems with a cory too aren't you? If you don't have test kits I would get to an LFS and have them test the water for you. Ask for exact numbers for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate and write them down! That way, we could at least eliminate that as a potential problem

I found out why he was floating. the silly thing would take a gulp of air too big for him so he'd float.

I went to the LFS today but i forgot to bring water oh well. I did like a 40% water change it should fix things for at least 2 days
