ok I went to the fish store yesterday to replace my female barb that died and you guessed it I feel in love again. LOL I replaced the female barb and got a raphael catfish he is only about 1 to 1.5 inches right now. I was afraid that he would not eat after researching them online but lastnight I feed the barbs and he came out and I gave him a algae tab and he ate it. So I was so thrilled. My only problem is the barbs I lost my smaller male. I am afraid that I maybe keeping the tank to warm at 82 -84 but my heater is one that automatically heats to 84 before kicking off. Does anyone know what my temp. needs to be with the catfish and the barbs?
Oh and I checked my prems and the ammonia is high so I did a water change and my ph was 7.2 and my kh was 6 and my gh was 4. I thought the ph was weird because in the winter my water was below 6 out of the faucet. So I checked out of the faucet after the aquarium water and it was around 7.1. To me it is all so weird, I wounder why it changed (I have well water) also why it was a little more alkline in the tank. If anyone has any advice please help me lol.
Oh and I am thinking of putting bio-spira in this tank has anyone tired it and if so how was the experience?
